Since the establishment of Destinations of the World in 1993, the company has consistently practiced trade neutrality and continues successfully to this day as a dedicated B2B travel industry wholesaler. Our core practices are focused on successfully connecting travel professionals around the globe, loyalty to our business customers, fair trading and being easy to do business with. These core practices are fully supported and disciplined by our pioneering technology and our dedicated team of professionals.

Nineteen years after we started in one country with a team of five, we now have offices in strategic locations around the world with over 300 multilingual professional staff. We have achieved this by continuous investment in people and technology. We have over 100,000 ground services in over 7,500 cities worldwide, which are accessed by over 450,000 travel agents, tour operators, OTA's, airlines, wholesalers, customers of Travel Technology companies and GDS's which include Amadeus, Travelport and Sabre. We currently process more than 3,000 bookings globally every day, generating over 2.3 million bed nights per annum.

Key business growth plans during 2013 include increasing our customer distribution in existing markets and to connect new XML customers from new markets across the world. Improve our products by contracting more hotels and inventory to meet the needs of new markets and by adding more hotel chains on direct dynamic connectivity to increase the existing number of properties from 80,000 to at least 100,000 over the next 12 months.

Destinations of the World Online Booking System - DOTWconnect

Launched in February 2008 our proprietary system "DOTWconnect" was specifically designed for the travel trade, with a focus on seamless communication and direct connectivity to customer and supplier systems. DOTWconnect was two years in the making and is completely developed, enhanced and managed in house with the support of a dedicated team of IT professionals. DOTWconnect v2.0 was launched in April 2009 and continues with real-time enhancements based on further continuous feedback from our trade customers, which is easily managed as DOTWconnect is a flexible technology platform and allows the rapid development of both front and back end features.

Key features include Direct Connect, XML interface, White Label, Extranet, E-commerce, Dynamic Pricing and Dynamic Exchange Rates. Current enhancements include XML connectivity to hotel chains, 3rd party suppliers and global distribution systems, web services for channel managers, Car Rental, Travel Insurance and, last but not least, Dynamic Packaging.

Customer Sales

Each client is assigned a sales account manager to fully understand specific customer needs and deliver a personalised service based on individual requirements. Incentives are offered to clients based on their productivity and, to motivate bookers further, enhanced incentive programmes are available. Regular visits are made to clients' offices to discuss new opportunities, as well as updates on our products, services and system enhancements.

Customer Service Support

The FIT departments of each office have experienced inbound and outbound teams servicing their territories, customers and business from a variety of source markets around the globe. These departments proactive focus is to ensure the end guest has a trouble free reservation experience. On call 24/7 there is always someone to contact 365 days a year no matter where in the world the customer is located.

Product Management and Support

A team of professional contractors are based in our offices around the world focused on contracting products that caters to all budgets and tastes, and ranges from two-star to five-star deluxe hotels and apartments for all room types, transfers, sightseeing tours, excursions and packages in more than 7,500 cities worldwide. The volume of our global FIT business provides us with vast buying power to contract the most competitive rates with last minute availability.

Our contractors are supported by dedicated product teams including data entry agents who ensure that new contracts are loaded and available in the system within 48 hours of signing or renewing contracts. The Product team structure also includes team members who offer a Help Desk service to our suppliers using the Extranet. These teams also monitor online contracting and quality control before live status and ensure the quality of content and rate integrity for all products distributed on DOTWconnect.
